January/February 2021 Newsletter

FROM THE MANAGER

Greeting all,

A lot has happened since our last newsletter. We started a new year, had an election, a bit of a snowstorm, a GTU Jet team member retired and much more. I won’t bore you by going over most of the stuff we all lived through, but I will talk about the retirement of GTU Jet’s Line Manager Donald Powell. Don retired from the US Army, working in helicopter maintenance and started at GTU Jet as a Line Technician. He was here in the rebuilding phase of GTU Jet, worked long hours, and was always happy to help in any way he could. In 2017, when I took over the General Managers position, I knew Don was the guy I needed to help me manage GTU Jet. His organizational skills and leadership were a true asset to the team and will be sorely missed. Thank you, Don! We wish the best as you enjoy your hard-earned retirement.

Don left big shoes to fill; so big that I had to divide up his duties between three other GTU Jet team members. We are taking the lessons and programs Don left us with and we are going to strive to continue to make him proud.

We are going to try and highlight GTU Jet tenants and/or their business in each newsletter. I will choose from submissions sent to me via email and decide which business to focus on. I'm happy to include a digital copy of a logo for anyone who is a tenant or team member in the newsletter. This is NOT an endorsement of any particular business, just an opportunity to shine a light on a small business.

The birds are back, we continue to make our best efforts to keep things clean but unfortunately Mother Nature will not be denied. We continue to try any method feasible to persuade them to find accommodations elsewhere.

Don’t forget about the upcoming 10th annual car show, February 27, 2021. Spectators are welcome starting at 10:30-2:30. Over 400 cars are expected as well as several aircraft and helicopters.

Finally, please stop by and grab a coffee and cookie. We are always happy to see you! We follow CDC and Texas guidelines regarding COVID. Please maintain 6 feet distance and wear a face mask. Thank you all and as always, its our honor to serve you!
