July 2019 Newsletter

Greetings All,

Hard to believe it's July already; summer is going by so quickly. June was a busy month for us at GTU Jet. We set a record for the number of avgas fueling operations. Setting the new record only confirms what users of the airport have been saying for some time now. The airport is growing and is being used more than ever. We want to support the growth and expansion of safety and efficiency of the airport.

The City of Georgetown's Transportation Advisory Board meets the second Friday of every month at 10:00 A.M, at the GMC building, 300-1 Industrial Avenue in Georgetown. The board assists the city council with transportation related items, the airport being one of them. As a user, business owner, and/or aviation enthusiast, I urge you to attend the meetings if possible. It's a great way to stay informed, not only about the airport, but about the development of the city of Georgetown. There is a group of city residents that religiously attend these meetings with the intent to stop all improvements to the airport. We need supporters at these meetings, advocating for the safety improvements to meet the growing demand of the airport. I hope you try to attend when possible.

The growth I personally have witnessed in the last four years has been impressive. Not only in Georgetown, but in the entire Austin area. Surrounding airports have added new FBOs, hangars, parking garages, and the list goes on. Nearly all the hangars in Georgetown are full, tie-downs are full, as are most of the surrounding area airports. Aviation in Central Texas is strong. We, as an airport, need to keep pace with the growth and development of the industry.

As always, we strive to do our very best for you and provide the absolute best service possible. If we should ever fall short of your expectations, please let me know. We can always be better.

As always, we thank you for the honor of allowing us to serve you!

Amy Cook started at GTU Jet in May as a Customer Service Representative. Amy is a veteran in the aviation field as she was a flight attendant for Delta in the 1990's.

Amy's favorite part of working at GTU Jet is seeing the variety of aircraft, hearing aircraft sounds, and being in the midst of the excitement of the aviation field.

When not at GTU Jet, Amy enjoys attending her daughter's sporting events; Lily is a cross country runner at the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor and Phoebe plays varsity soccer at Gateway College Prep in Georgetown.

Welcome Amy. Thanks for all you do!
