November 2018 Newsletter

Greetings All,

On Friday, November 9, I attended the Georgetown Transportation Advisory Board's (GTAB) monthly meeting. During the meeting, Public Works Director Octavio Garza advised that an offer had been made to the top two candidates for the Airport Manager position, however neither accepted. Mr. Garza told the Board they would continue down the list of applicants until the position is filled.

As always, we'll continue to keep you updated on process but we encourage everyone to attend the GTAB monthly meetings. They're open to the public and are generally held on the 2nd Friday of each month at 10:00am at the Georgetown Municipal Complex (except for the month of December, when the meetings are held on the Thursday prior to the 2nd Friday). The airport needs your voice and support!

Below you will find a Texas Aviation Economic Impact Study. As I reviewed it, I was surprised at the total economic impact to the City of Georgetown: $52.7 million. I was advised by Mr. Garza that the study was performed by TxDOT and it included 25 commercial airports and 264 general aviation airports. The study measured things like jobs, capital improvement projects, and visitor impacts.

I am personally happy to see the positive impact that the general aviation industry is having, not only in Georgetown, but all over the entire state of Texas.

As always, I thank you for allowing us the honor of serving you!
