August 2018 Newsletter
FROM THE MANAGER
This month we said goodbye to Airport Manager Russ Volk who retired August 15. Russ helped point the airport to a positive future through his role in the update of the he Airport Master Plan (AMP). The AMP, which is going through the development and approval phases at this time, will ensure Georgetown aviation enthusiast a modern airport to use for the foreseeable future. It's been a pleasure to work with Russ and we wish him all the best in a well-deserved retirement.
We encourage anyone interested in the development of the airport, to attend the monthly Georgetown Transportation Advisory Board meetings. The board discusses projects that impact the airport both inside and outside the fence.
If you've been to the airport within the last month, you have experienced the "Airport Road Improvement Project". The new road is going to have more lanes for traffic and a stop light at the intersection of Lakeway Blvd. and Airport Road. It's been a challenge for us here at GTU Jet. We have tried to keep dust and dirt from construction out of the hangars as much as possible. Fortunately, we expect the road to be paved soon.
We recently had a complete and total inspection of our fire suppression system and all extinguishers. The system is inspected annually by a certified contractor. This not only keeps us in compliance with city ordinances, but more importantly ensures our fire suppression system is working properly. Our facilities manager, Ernest Serna, takes great pride ensuring all components of this system are properly maintained and working as designed.
As always, we greatly appreciate you allowing us the honor of serving you.
