Goodbye, and good luck.
I am sure many of you have heard that I am leaving GTU Jet and Texas Aviation Partners (TAP) at the end of November. I started consulting for TAP in December of 2014. I am proud of what we accomplished in the thirty-five months that followed. Now, I find myself in a unique position to toot the horns of those who would never do so themselves. Please forgive me as I shamelessly take full advantage of this opportunity to shine a light on those most deserving.
Firstly, I would like to thank Texas Aviation Partners for the opportunity to re-engage in Georgetown to execute on a vision that I have had for years. Although it is not quite what I envisioned, it is closer. Recognizing that any successful businesses are continually reinventing themselves, refining, and improving, I know that it will never be complete. I learned many things in my time with TAP. Their breadth of knowledge and diversity of experience is incredible, and blends to provide a unique perspective on the aviation industry.
The banking professionals at First United Bank, who engaged TAP, are top notch in my view; the epitome of what a great banker is all about. They are focused on understanding the needs of the business, and doing the right things to make it successful. The old saying 'do the right things for the right reasons' certainly comes to mind concerning First United Bank. They want to be good corporate citizens and supporters of the community. I could not have asked for a better group of people to work with.
The heart of any business is its team members. Nothing happens without dedicated, knowledgeable, friendly, thoughtful people to make it all happen. I have been fortunate to have many such people join us at GTU Jet. Many former team members are reading this column now. Although life has laid new opportunities in their paths, they remain interested and care enough to keep abreast of what is happening at GTU Jet. Our team has always felt a sense of ownership. They genuinely care about doing a good job and providing the best possible service they can for you, our customers. It's our team members that accept the responsibility of carrying on a legacy of quality, safety, and unparalleled service. My sincerest thanks you to all our team members, past and present.
I must also thank the City of Georgetown. Significant investors in our community do not arrive via I-35, they arrive via runway 18/36. Georgetown is enviously poised, and ideally located for exciting growth opportunities as indicated in the 2016 Census Report naming Georgetown as the Fastest Growing City in U.S. Many communities would love to have an asset like Georgetown Municipal Airport. As a resident of Georgetown, I think that Georgetown Municipal Airport is a vehicle for growth, revenue, and jobs.
Okay, I will get off my soapbox.
Let me close by expressing my heartfelt gratitude for your business and trust. As a pilot, I understand what you need; I have done my best to provide it. I am leaving you with an outstanding team of dedicated, knowledgeable aviation professionals that share my vision of service, and uncompromising safety. I look forward to joining you as a client of GTU Jet.
As I close for the last time, let me say thank you for your friendship, trust, and support. I truly couldn't have done it without you.

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
Our October Employee of the Month is Cathryn Landry.
Cathryn has been with GTU Jet from the beginning and is a very valuable member of the team. She keeps things running day-to-day like a well oiled machine.
Day in and day out, Cathryn takes care of our customers, tenants and employees all with a smile on her face. Thank you, Cathryn, for all you do!
Rebecca Boyd started at GTU Jet in September as our afternoon Customer Service Representative.
Prior to joining the GTU Jet team, Rebecca spent her time raising her three children and four horses here in Georgetown. Her favorite part of working at GTU Jet is learning all about general aviation. Rebecca's father is a cropduster in the Rio Grande Valley and was a commercial pilot so being around airports has always been a way of life for her.
When not at GTU Jet, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family, riding horses, photography, and watercolor painting.
Fun Fact: In 2012 Rebecca went back to college at Texas State and graduated in 2014 with a BA in Communications and minor in Psychology, something she is most proud of.
