 KEN'S CORNER

The numbers are in

At this point, you're probably tired of hearing about the Hurricane Harvey Airlift. It was a big deal to us since we were so heavily involved and saw the realities up close and personal. It had an emotional impact on all of us. Add to that the newspaper articles, television news reports, magazine stories, VIP visits, and our role in the video played during the keynote speech at the NBAA convention in Las Vegas earlier this month, and I suppose our preoccupation is understandable. Please bear with me as I cap this saga with the final numbers.

GTU Jet purchased $21.2K of fuel for the relief effort and sold it below cost to keep expenses as low as possible for pilots flying relief missions. Through an agreement made in advance with Avfuel Corporation and the City of Georgetown, fuel discounts on the back end made fuel operations a break-even concern for the FBO.

I won't drone on about the airlift anymore in my monthly column or on social media. But, the next time you're in hangar 1B, where we staged the relief effort, gaze up high on the wall. There, you'll see the Texas Flag presented to acknowledge the efforts of all those who participated in this outpouring of compassionate support. Know that through the combined efforts of the PALS / Sky Hope Network, Austin Disaster Relief Network, Celebration Church, AeroJet, Avfuel Corporation, the City of Georgetown, countless local businesses, area residents, and tireless volunteers, we made a difference.

As always, thanks for your business.  We truly couldn't do it without you!

Best regards,

General Manager
