February 2017 Newsletter

Your safety is our #1 Priority

114 years ago Orville and Wilbur first took to the air. We have learned a lot about how to prevent all types of aviation accidents and tragedies since then. At GTU Jet we invest heavily in National Air Transportation Association (NATA) training to instill the lessons of the past and ensure that we employ industry standard best practices to keep you safe.

Founded in 1940, NATA has represented the interests of the general aviation business community before Congress and federal, state and local government agencies. They also provide globally recognized Professional Line Service Training (PLST) to ensure anyone that touches your aircraft knows what they are doing. NATA's training is used today by more than 1,100 FBOs and thousands of line service professionals around the globe.

Fuel testing and quality control probably has the biggest impact on safety but it is never really seen by you, our customer. One of the more interesting tests we conduct is a simple white bucket test. We put about a gallon of fuel into a special porcelain bucket to check for water and particulates. Clear and Bright tests require us to put fuel into a mason jar and agitate it to check for traces of water. We also check for microorganisms in fuel. All daily, weekly, monthly and annual inspections are done in accordance with ATA Specification 103, FAA Advisory Circular 10/5230-4B and other federal, state and local regulations.

If you'd like to learn more let us know. We are proud of the lengths we go to make sure you get to your destination safe and sound!

As always, thanks for your business. We truly couldn't do it without you!

Best Regards,

Ken Mabe General Manager

We recently acquired a Hobart JetEX-4D Diesel Portable GPU (similar to the one pictured below) just in time for the warm weather! Donell Johnson started at GTU Jet in October 2016 as a Line Service Technician.

He joins us after six years in the United States Army as a petroleum supply specialist. His extensive experience fueling military aircraft allowed for Donell to jump in feet first! His favorite part of working at GTU Jet is the atmosphere, customers, and great colleagues.

When not at GTU Jet, Donell enjoys spending time with his two children and wife. An avid fisherman, you can usually find Donell on the lake, or watching his wife's choice of movie.

Congratulations to Donell, who recently completed his NATA Satefy First Line Service Technician training.

The C-12 Huron is the military designation for a series of twin-engine turboprop aircraft based on the Beechcraft Super King Air and Beechcraft 1900. C-12 variants are used by the Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps. These aircraft are used for various duties, including embassy support, medical evacuation, as well as passenger and light cargo transport. Some aircraft like the Army version that recently visited GTU Jet are modified with surveillance systems for various missions.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our active duty military personnel for their service, and for giving GTU Jet the opportunity to serve you!
